What day is it today? Today is Monday.
My Spanish class is on Tuesday.
I don't work on Saturdays.
We are going to the movies on Friday.
The days of the week are seven: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The names for the days of the week are the same across the entire Spanish-speaking world. The most significant difference is cultural: in most of Latin America and Spain, the week begins on Monday (lunes), not Sunday (domingo).
While the words are the same, the pronunciation of 'miércoles' will have the 'c' pronounced like a 'th' sound in most of Spain (the 'ceceo').
In these regions, the 's' at the end of words like 'lunes' or 'martes' may be aspirated or sound like a soft 'h'.
Not capitalizing the days of the week. In Spanish, days are lowercase unless they begin a sentence. Correct: 'Nos vemos el lunes.' Incorrect: 'Nos vemos el Lunes.'
Using 'en' for 'on' a specific day. To say 'on Monday,' use the definite article 'el' ('el lunes'). The preposition 'en' is not used. Correct: 'La fiesta es el sábado.' Incorrect: 'La fiesta es en sábado.'
Incorrectly forming the plural. For days ending in -s (lunes, martes, etc.), the singular and plural forms are identical. Only change the article ('el' to 'los'). For 'sábado' and 'domingo', add an 's' ('los sábados', 'los domingos'). Correct: 'Trabajo los lunes.' Incorrect: 'Trabajo los luneses.'
Forgetting the article. When talking about something happening on a certain day, you almost always need the article 'el' or 'los'. Correct: 'Voy al gimnasio el miércoles.' Incorrect: 'Voy al gimnasio miércoles.'
